Community Funds
Mary J. Bacigalupo Community Fund


Support civic and community activities in the Lowell area to advance the outstanding legacy of Mary J. Bacigalupo, one of the city's great civic and educational leaders.


Bankers Volunteer of the Year Award Fund


Established entirely by local banks to recognize exemplary volunteer efforts in the community, the fund annually provides a $1,000.00 award to an outstanding volunteer, who recommends a nonprofit organization of his or her choice to receive the gift.


Jeanie Barkley Memorial Fund


The Jeanie Barkley Memorial Fund (JBMF) is a permanent fund that annually will provide scholarship opportunities to deserving students at Alvirne High School, and when the fund grows to sufficient size can support other charitable interests that Jeanie favored. The recipients will possess the potential to make the same kind of positive impact on their community that Jeanie did. The money awarded will be utilized by the winner to offset the cost of post secondary education, tuition, fees, books, room and board.


David Bernard Memorial Fund


A donor-advised fund which supports the charitable interests of the family of David, a victim of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001.


Boisvert Fund


A donor-advised fund established by William R. Doyle and Kay Doyle, Ph.D., to honor their family members and to support charitable interests.


Alfred H. and Kathryn E. Coburn Park Fund


Created in 2006 to provide funds annually to the Lowell Parks and Conservation Trust, Inc. for additional maintenance and beautification as a supplement to basic city park services of Coburn Park, Lowell, Massachusetts.

Established in 2003 to enhance Merrimack Valley?s rich cultural traditions with patronage for organizations presenting quality visual and performing arts to the region?s residents and visitors.


Hildreth Family Cemetery Preservation Fund


Established in 2006 to provide for preservation, beautification, maintenance and care thereby contributing to the aesthetic enjoyment of the community and combating deterioration.


Joann Weber Charitable Fund


The Joann Weber Charitable fund was created in memory and celebration of Joann Weber?s life. Along with her husband Drew, Joann Weber became owner of the Lowell Spinners in 1997. Spinners fans will always remember Weber with the smile she greeted fans every night on the concourse and when she would stand at the exit to say good night to every fan as they left the game until there were no more fans in the park. The Fund supports charitable and civic organizations in the Greater Lowell area.


Harold J. and Mildred Leclair Fund


A designated fund providing discretionary grants that specifically benefit the lives of elderly people in the Greater Lowell area through the Community Foundation and a tuition scholarship to Lowell Catholic High School in honor of Harold J. Leclair and Francis J. Rice, Jr.


Ruth C. and John E. Leggat Fund


A designated and donor-advised fund supporting the United Way of Merrimack Valley, the Cancer Center at Lowell General Hospital, and other charitable organizations of interest to the Leggat family.


Lowell Association for the Blind Endowment Fund


Lowell Association for the Blind is a non-profit, community based organization whose mission is to support, educate and nurture the blind and visually impaired of the Greater Merrimack Valley by assisting them in the enrichment of their lives and helping them to gain maximum independence. The LAB also seeks to stimulate the interest and education of the general public to the problems and issues facing the blind and visually impaired as productive members of society seeking fulfillment of their human potential. Established in 1923, the Association has been serving the Greater Lowell / Merrimack Valley community for over 75 years.

Merrimack River Valley House Endowment Fund


The Merrimack River Valley House Endowment Fund was established to provide annual support to Merrimack River Valley House, which was founded in 1867 to shelter Lowell?s aging mill women. It continues today as a nonprofit rest home providing a safe, comfortable, economical home for women and ensuring their physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

John A. Ogonowski Memorial Fund


A donor-advised fund established in memory of Captain Ogonowski, the pilot of American Airlines Flight 11 on September 11th, 2001, to perpetuate his legacy of charitable endeavors.


Mary Roach Scholarship Fund


The Mary Roach Scholarship Fund was established to honor and memorialize Mary Lynn (Lawlor) Roach of Billerica, Massachusetts for her love of the arts, education and the courage that she displayed during her fight with breast cancer. The Fund provides scholarship awards to deserving students graduating from Shawsheen Technical High School ("the School") in Billerica, Massachusetts who exemplify Mary's interest in arts and education.

Assist women in transition
Forty years of research shows that social investments in women reduce poverty, raise productivity and accelerate economic growth. This Fund will encourage women to build on their strengths and increase self-worth. In addition, a higher level of self-esteem will be passed along to future generations.

Provide leadership development
The Women Working Wonders Fund will support organizations and activities that contribute to leadership development in girls and women.

Contribute to the beautification of the environment
The Women Working Wonders Fund will support environmental beautification projects that provide a platform for women to showcase their commitment to maintaining the distinct character
of their community.
