Anna Lekas Kuenzler Scholarship Fund


The fund honors the life of Anna Lekas Kuenzler, a Lowell High School graduate in 1950, who was a simple, caring woman with extraordinary values which she passed on to her children. The Fund provides scholarship awards to graduating seniors from Lowell High School with economic need who plan to pursue an education at a two or four year academic institution.


Edward J. Babigan Scholarship Fund


Established by Col.(ret.) and Mrs. Alan E. Babigan in the Colonel's memory to be awarded to the best Lowell High School chemistry student.


Walter A. Bacigalupo Scholarship Fund


Established by his family in memory of Walter, a graduate of LHS in 1987, this scholarship is awarded to Lowell High School seniors pursuing an education at a Massachusetts public university or community college.


Albert and Doris Bourgeois Scholarship Fund


This scholarship honors Albert and Doris, known as ?Madame? by her many French students at Lowell High School. She taught here for more than thirty years and led many student trips to France. The scholarship is awarded to Lowell High School students with superior achievement in French.


Carney Medal Fund


Established in 2007 to award each of the six Carney Medalists a scholarship in addition to the prestigious medal. The Carney Medal is given to the highest ranking three men and three women in the LHS graduation class. The tradition dates back to 1859, when James C. Carney of the Lowell Institution for Savings first financed the medals.


Kimberly R. Clough Memorial Scholarship Fund


Established in memory of a devoted Lowell High School math teacher, this Lowell High School scholarship is open to all graduating seniors.


James F. Conway, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund


Established in 1992 in memory of the former CEO of Courier Corp., a 1941 LHS alumnus. This scholarship is awarded to the Lowell High School Valedictorian and Salutatorian of the graduating class.


Don Costa Memorial Scholarship Fund


Created in 2004 by Don?s co-workers at the former Colonial Gas Company, the scholarship awards funds to deserving Lowell High School students that demonstrate need, including students of family members formerly employed by Colonial Gas.


Doyle Family Scholarship Fund


Established in 2007 to award one or more scholarships to a graduating student from Lowell High School in Lowell, Massachusetts, who intends to pursue study in either science or mathematics at an accredited college or university.


Sarah Droney-McGurrin Scholarship Fund


Established in memory of Sarah, a 1974 LHS alumna, the scholarship is awarded to Lowell High School students (preferably female) interested in pursuing journalism.


Natalie J. Eacrett Memorial Scholarship Fund


The Natalie J. Eacrett Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to memorialize the courageous life of Natalie Eacrett who died at the age of seven in May 2006. She was the great granddaughter of the donor, Mary L. McGrath Burnham, a LHS class of 1930 graduate. The Fund will provide scholarship awards to graduating seniors from Lowell High School who plan to attend a four year institution and pursue a R.N. degree in Nursing.


Eileen Marjorie McGuire Donahue Scholarship Fund


The fund was created to honor Eileen Marjorie McGuire Donahue. The Fund provides scholarship awards to graduating seniors from Lowell High School to pursue a college degree in music, with preference in choral/voice study.


Louis Fineman Scholarship Fund


Established in memory of the late farmer, cattle broker, and founder of the Pelham Bank and Trust, the scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate an outstanding work ethic in academics, school service, and work in the community.


Goriansky Brothers Scholarship Fund


Inspired by the academic excellence and lifetime accomplishment of Lev V. Goriansky, a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the purpose of the Fund is to award one or more scholarships to a graduating honor student from Lowell High School, who has emigrated or whose parents have emigrated from another country and who intends to pursue study in architectural design or the visual arts at an accredited college or university.


Jack Kerouac Scholarship Fund


Named after the famous Lowell native and author , this scholarship fund was started in 2004 with proceeds from the Jack Kerouac 5K Road Race. This Lowell High School scholarship is awarded to students who will pursue a career teaching English, or in creative writing, journalism or professional practice in a related field.


Mary V. Kiafas Scholarship Fund


Established in 2004 by Mary V. Kiafas , a 1941 LHS graduate, this scholarship is awarded to graduating Lowell High School seniors of Greek heritage.


William P. Kraines Memorial Scholarship Fund


Established in 2002 by family and friends in memory of this 1972 LHS graduate, the scholarship is awarded to seniors who demonstrate financial need and a desire to study English or the media arts in college.


Amy E. Lekites Memorial Scholarship Fund


Established in 2006 to memorialize and celebrate the life of Amy E. Lekites '85 who excelled as an athlete in girls track while at Lowell High. The scholarship is awarded to female graduates who participated in girls track or cross-country who have shown exceptional dedication and committment to the sport and the team.


Lowell High School Campaign For Educational Excellence


Through the Campaign for Educational Excellence, Lowell High School and the Greater Lowell Community Foundation are building a $5 million endowment to provide permanent scholarships to college-bound seniors. These funds also support enrichment programs that enhance the school?s curriculum with guest lectures, performances, field trips, and other special projects.

Lowell High School Class of 1957 Scholarship Fund


Established by the class of 1957, this Lowell High School scholarship will be awarded to a graduate with academic merit, economic need, and/or community service.


Lowell High School Class of 1959 Scholarship Fund


Established by the class of 1959, this Lowell High School scholarship is open to all graduating seniors.


Lowell High School Class of 1960 Scholarship Fund


Established by the class of 1960 in 2003 in celebration of all their 60th birthdays. Awarded to the 60th ranking student. Provided that the student is attending a two or four year accredited school. Student must have a good attendance record.If the 60th ranking student is not attending college, this award will be presented to the closest ranking student going down in rank, i.e. 61, 62, 63 etc.
The 60th ranking student is significant with the year of our class graduation and typically this student ties very hard and goes unrecognized.

Established by the class of 1979 at their 25th reunion, this Lowell High School scholarship is open to all graduating seniors.


James S. Martin Scholarship Fund


Established in 2005, honoring the memory of James ?72 on the 10th anniversary of his death, this Lowell High School scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors with financial need who have participated in Highland little league, basketball, or softball.


Katherine M. Martin Scholarship Fund


Established in 2007, honoring the memory of Katherine, this Lowell High School scholarship fund is to provide a scholarship award to deserving seniors pursuing study in Elementary Education at an accredited academic institution.


Catherine J. McArdle Scholarship Fund


This Lowell High School scholarship, established in 2005 through a bequest, is open to all graduating seniors.


Jane G. O?Connor McCarthy Scholarship Fund


This Lowell High School scholarship will be awarded to deserving seniors interested in studying nursing. This scholarship was established in recognition of her career in nursing that enabled her to support five children after her husband died at a young age.


Ryan P. McMahon Memorial Scholarship Fund


Created by family and friends in memory of Ryan, who died while a student a St. Margaret?s Elementary School in Lowell. The scholarship is to be awarded to graduating Lowell High School seniors who have also graduated from St. Margaret?s.


Rita Sharcoff Mizner Memorial Scholarship Fund


Established in 2007 to provide scholarship awards to one or more graduating seniors from Lowell High School who plan to pursue a career in public education. An essay is required to describe the student's interest in pursuing this field.


Robert Isaac Mizner Memorial Scholarship Fund


Established by his family in 2004, this scholarship memorializes the life of Robert Mizner, LHS Valedictorian in 1974, and honors his love of learning, particularly in mathematics and teaching, by awarding scholarships to graduates of the Latin Lyceum who wish to pursue college study in the fields of mathematics and education.


Amsi Morales Scholarship Fund


Created by Amsi ?98 while still an undergraduate college student, this Lowell High School scholarship is awarded to students of Hispanic heritage who worked during the school year or have a record of community service and who wishes to pursue the study of business at a two or four year college.


Robert E. Mullin Scholarship Fund


Established in 2006, this Lowell High School scholarship fund is open to all graduating seniors.


Alice Dolan Murphy Scholarship Fund


Established in 2005 to honor Alice Dolan Murphy's commitment to the nursing profession and Lowell High School, the scholarship will be awarded to deserving seniors interested in studying nursing at a two or four year institution.


Anna Burns Murphy Scholarship Fund


Created by her daughter, Joanne, to memorialize her mother?s life. This scholarship will be awarded to students interested in studying business at a two or four year institution.


Joey O'Connor Memorial Scholarship Fund


Established to memorialize the life of Joey O?Connor by providing annual scholarship to special needs graduates of Lowell High School who wish to pursue higher education.


Walter J. Poirier Scholarship Fund


Established in 2006 to honor the life of Walter J. Poirier and to award an annual scholarship to one or more graduating Lowell High School students who are members of the National Honor Society and have demonstrated service to the community.


Brian F. Reynolds Student Athlete Scholarship Fund


Established by family and friends in memory of Brian ?50, a football, track, and baseball player, who later graduated from Harvard College, this Lowell High School scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate excellence in both scholastics and athletics.


Riddick Family Scholarship Fund


Established in 2004 through the LHS Alumni Golf Tournament to honor the Riddick family?s commitment to Lowell High School and the Lowell community, this scholarship is awarded to seniors who demonstrate strong academics and involvement in extracurricular activities at the high school and in the community.


Dr. Joseph R. Rocha NAACP Scholarship Fund


This scholarship was established in 2002 in memory of a former UMass Lowell professor who was on the board of the Merrimack Valley NAACP and listed in Who?s Who Among Black Americans. It is awarded to students of African or African-American heritage with at least a B average who wish to study business.


J. Stephen Ronan Scholarship Fund


Established in 2006 to memorialize and celebrate the life of J. Stephen Ronan, a former teacher and Housemaster at Lowell High School, by awarding annual scholarships to Lowell High School graduating seniors in D House who demonstrate financial need.


Tadeusz and Jean Rurak Scholarship Fund


Throughout his career as Assistant Superintendent of Lowell Schools, educator, and community leader, Tadeusz H. Rurak was dedicated to educational excellence in the Lowell school system. In 2007 he established the Tadeusz H. Rurak Scholarship Fund to provide scholarship awards to one or more graduating seniors from Lowell High School with a B Average who wish to pursue a college education.


Mark and Elisia Saab Student Activities Fund


Established in 2007 to provide annual support for student activities at Lowell High School to encourage and sustain the educational, social and civic development of students.


Linda Sousa Memorial Scholarship Fund


Established in 1996 in memory of Linda who graduated from LHS in 1995. This Lowell High School scholarship will be presented to a student going to the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.


Peter S. Stamas Scholarship Fund


This fund was stablished by former LHS Headmaster, educator and community leader, Peter Stamas, along with his family, friends, and professional associates. This LHS scholarship shall be awarded to seniors who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, community seervice and participation in school activities.


Stephen Tousignant Music Memorial Scholarship Fund


The fund was created to memorialize the life of Stephen Tousignant. The Fund provides scholarship awards to graduating instrumental (preferably woodwind) students from Lowell High School planning to major in music or music education in college.


Daniel F. Sullivan Memorial Scholarship


Established in 2007 to honor the life of former Housemaster, Daniel F. Sullivan and provide scholarship awards to one or more graduating seniors from Lowell High School who demonstrate financial need, participate in school athletics, school activities or hold a job while a student at Lowell High School.


Katina Pappas Tsongas Scholarship Fund


Created by the late U.S. Senator and 1992 Democratic Presidential Candidate, Paul Tsongas, a graduate of LHS in 1958, this fund honors his mother, who died in his childhood. The LHS scholarship is open to female residents of Lowell, MA only and will be awarded to the winner of an essay contest on women's issues.
